Approaching Net Zero Energy:
Building Commissioning under Title 24
California has seen its fair share of energy efficiency policy changes over the years. California leads the way in the net zero effort for 2030. Part of the way they are working towards this effort is by requiring commissioning within the Title 24 building codes. Ensuring buildings are built energy efficient is key to meet the net zero criteria and commissioning is at the forefront of that effort. We will discuss the requirements for new building commissioning within Title 24, what it entails and who can perform the work.
Melissa was born and raised in San Jose, CA. She decided to stay local and went to San Jose State University, where she earned her degree in Mechanical Engineering. Melissa started her career being a mechanical design engineer prior to switching over to the Commissioning field. She has diverse experience with her years of experience. She has been the project manager for such clients like SLAC, NASA Ames, Apple, Inc. and various college campuses of the Bay Area. She has a passion for existing buildings which need to be made energy efficient. She has decades of experience in the building industry in California and beyond. Melissa is one of the founding partners of Harrison Thomas Group, a commissioning firm based on the peninsula. Melissa enjoys traveling and all outdoor activities. She also has two active little girls who keep her on her toes. She is a member of the Association for Facilities Engineers and has led the organization in the past. She has also mentored engineering students in the career of energy efficiency and mechanical design engineering through running the Day with A Facilities Professional with AFE.
